Just before you carry out that action..
The moderator rolled in the announcements, and this was among. The third meeting in three weeks, was mentioned. Where the pastors would go and discuss redundant stuff that could wait, or be finalized on phone. But as usual, the senior pastor would hear none of that. He actually holds such meetings in high esteem, and sees anyone's failure to come, as disobedience.Having that realization hit him once more, and remembering that he was stuck, the junior pastor cried out in my front. Yeah...he blurted out:"It's still the same things we are going there to discuss"... and I'm quite tired and hungryπ₯. He just wished for a way to escape but there was none. The moderator would not even take his message, not to talk of relaying it to the senior pastor.
That was when I felt it. I mean, this junior pastor is my friend, and he was not carnal or whatever. Truth be told, if you see him trying to persuade you to be on the Lord's side for somethingπ€¦, you will wonder if he is also human, because of the way he would try to convince you, despite the glaring obstacles. On a normal day, when he is in the position to mobilize persons to do something, he does so, like someone oblivious of what it means to rest. He just gives it his all. I got to see behind the mask that day. I was able to see the soft being behind all of those toughness that he always exhibited.
On this day, he just wanted to get home, eat and sleep, and he couldn't hide it anymore. The fact that the irrelevancy of the discussion, was getting to him, was also unveiled that day.
Maybe, if it was not me who was there that day, but someone else who was quite junior, or not a leader too, he would not have brought himself out that way, but what does it matter??
What happened that Sunday, reminded me of something, which is..."we are still humans!". Nobody is a God yet. Nobody has been transfigured yet. Pastors, professors, perfectionists and politicians alike. Despite the perfectionism displayed every now and then, they could still make mistakes someday. Despite the flawless display of maturity, they still have blood flowing through their veins.
I don't know....I should not be talking like I'm the only one on this table. You too can relate now?...You cannot?π³... Alright, let me remind you. Remember, the times when you served in the capacity of a leader, and you just had to be there for the organization, and have the followers buy into the project, even when you knew, you were not so into the project.
What about the times you were in deep emotional pains, yet you just had to maintain composure, because you were in front of persons who looked up to you, and you just longed to go home and cry on your sister's shoulder?
Or the times you had to gather yourself together, and go out to display flawlessly, yet come back home to your issues, and helplessness.
Fix in the other examples you remember. The moments would endlessly flow now. And that's the goal, I want to get us to remember, because we keep forgetting☹️. We keep forgetting, that this perfect pastor is human too, and so deserves some rest. We also forget that this flawless professor is human too, and therefore might also have some issues to deal with. We forget too, that this so generous person is human, and might have some areas of need too.
So, sometimes, we judge at the snap of a finger. We make decisions irrationally, and spew some brutal things from our mouths. We use past glory to deeply disdain present achievement, because it's not up to the standard.
This should not be so, and now you know. As much as you're tempted to condemn that person today, remember, he is also human, and it could be anybody. Before you humorously condemn one flaw, remember that this person is human, and is not above mistakes yet.
✓Leave judgement for God..
✓Mind the way you say things.
✓Always put yourself in the shoes of the receiving end everytime, and keep asking.."Would it go down well if I was the one summoned incessantly?"
✓Ask questions to get feedbacks if you are in the leadership position. You might not see all at a glance.
What am I forgetting?..Add it up for me, in the comment section belowπ, because I'm done writing.
These past weeks have been a sort of rough one health wise for me, but I'm pulling through already. How about you?...How has it been with you?. Today, ask the holy Spirit to breathe on whatever project you're working on. His breath is the finishing touch you need in that project. He breathed on this one too..yeah, and trust me, it is priceless π. I'll drop my pen now, but before then, thanks for today. I'm sure you'll come through for me next time. Do take care and stay safe...Your favourite writer, Joyπ.
Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Destiny.
DeleteAmazing content
ReplyDeleteThank you π
DeleteYeah, we are really not humans, most times we even can't see ourselves disappointing, we tell ourselves I don't have any other option even if I break down while I'm doing this, I must do it because if I don't do it, its going to dent my already perfect picture, you know we don't always have to be perfect, we should leave perfection for God and ask him to help us while we do our best, its not very burden brought before us we must carry, some things are actually unnecessary.
ReplyDeleteLeave perfection for Godπ... very true!
