Discipline.

 Hi there. Welcome back!🤗

Trust you have been good?

Today, you would be learning something really crucial to your development as a person, and that is the art of discipline.

Sincerely and soberly,

How high have you been holding up your head in this area?

Have you been taking charge of your responsibilities, or have they been making a mess of you?

Well, by God's grace, you would stay in charge from today onwards.

The truth is, discipline is a very important part of your life. You need it for yourself in the present, and for where you are headed.

Peradventure you want to be tempted to say...

"I can afford to shove discipline aside, after all, I am not answerable to any person. It's just me for me."

 Well...

What becomes of you when you actually become answerable to people? Do not give me the answer of "I will bring out the discipline in me then". No please.

Why?

Because it does not work that way! Discipline is a culture you will take time to build intentionally. You start from making your bed as soon as you get up, to finishing tasks at the workplace.

Hence, you might want to try out any of the following helpful ways..

  • Talk to someone about it.

By 'it', I mean, whatever you want to be disciplined about.

You know that one person that would be upbeat about you achieving that thing..that would trail your progress. It could even be someone who would mock you if you fail to. This works so well between friends or even roommates. For example, you already voiced out to your roommate that you want to cut down on your sugar intake. Whenever you remember that if you buy a bottle of coke while coming home, the first thing you will hear is..."I thought you said that...". And that any meaningful explanation you give might not suffice, instead you would continue hearing references to the coke you bought in the on your way back...you would have a rethink before you purchase that coke.

  • Put out your feet:

This means tieing your goal to something else... something much more bigger. Put something at stake. Your reputation, your money, whatever.

You would agree with me that if you give all your savings to a trusted person to give you back, only when you have done so and so, you will do everything within your power to complete that stuff. If not for anything, but for the sake of your savings.

You could also make a promise to persons you know you would never want to disappoint.

  • Make it Plain on the Table.
More like, write what it is you want, down.

I was reading a book and the author said something like; 20 minutes of planning would actually reduce the time you would have spent in executing those activities if they were not written down.

Even if you might not always have the patience to start categorizing them in order of priority or whatever, just write them down and have a grasp of what is on your plate.

Trust me, it gives you a reminder, and an idea on how to start.

  • Set deadlines and beat them.
For those you have written down, it is very much easier to set deadlines for them. And please...any day you are able to do everything you initially set out to do, treat yourself to something nice. You deserve it.

How do you see humble beginnings??

Frame It!!!....The best days are close already.           One day in my life, a long time after I had left secondary school, I was going through my school box, and lazily looking through all the last set of books I used during secondary school. Then I stumbled upon them. My different Journals and letters. The letters included those that were written to me, and those I failed to give out, due to lack of courage or any other reason. Boom! I sat down there and began to read. I've always loved reminiscence and reading with all my heart. So, I seamlessly spent quite sometime on that spot, reading those stuff, and trust me, I had a swell time. I laughed so hard, and I pinched myself at  different times. I am sure, you can guess the reason by now. Damn!...I felt stupefied and really surprised. For the letters I wrote, I kept on asking no one in particular..."Did I ever draft this?", "Like, Who does this? For those ...

But wait, ( She sits up, and glances at the clock on the wall) Reliance...It's almost ten a.m. What time did you plan to open your shop? Reliance : I'll go by eleven joor. Sales have been pretty low this week, and I'm just not happy about it. It's killing the little vibes I gathered to open the business. Valerie: So, what exactly do you want? Reliance: C'mon...I have over a million naira worth of goods in that shop, and I keep on selling only a handful of goods per day all. Valerie: Is that so? But at the time I passed yesterday, the whole place was scattered, like you had just sold over a hundred thousand nau.. Reliance: (In shock) Jesus!..what time was tha.. Valerie: In the afternoon joor..sometime between 1 and 2. I was on a bike, so I couldn't really stop to greet, but with that sight alone, I was just hail...

MITIGATING THE HURTS THAT COMES WITH DISAPPOINTMENT.                   Friend, welcome again 🥰.              Sometime  ago, I got a new phone, and as usual, it came with a charger. Because this phone was a higher brand than all those I've used before, coupled with all the rants I heard about  the extra power that comes with follow come chargers😂, I protected this phone's charger with an utmost care. To be honest, left to me, I would not have loved to share this charger with anyone, but normally, as the Nigerians that we are, someone somewhere just had to beg you😔🤦. Sometimes, they could even use it in your absence if kept carelessly. So, somehow I still shared. All the same, I still took very good care of that charger, such that even as I shared, my heart went out with it.          Then one day...this beloved charger just stopped responding. Just like that. I mean ...

Overcoming anger.

You're way too big!               Just one click, and you’re pissed off already...One reaction, and you’ve been taken off the hook....One word, and you’re swept off your feet.              This is just one though.               Let’s assume you didn’t yield. Probably, you’re a bit stronger. However, sometimes it could be more. Your contenders may decide to take it a bit further. They give you in more doses, and how does it turn out? You get fed up, and, next thing, you blow up. You take everything and everyone down.             Whichever scenario it is, why let them take the glory all the time? Why let them beat you hands down? Why let them push you to the wall?? Why let them get you annoyed?? Why let them drive you insane?             And in just a minute more, you’...

KEYS TO A HAPPY LIFE 2.

KEYS TO A HAPPY LIFE.                So friend, picking up from where we left off, here are the remaining tips I thought to share with you. Let's ride!🏄‍♂️ • ENCOURAGE OTHERS:   Everyday, we  meet weak people. We see persons struggling with the level we scaled years before. We come across persons fighting battles we fought and overcame a long time ago. In our classrooms, on social media, in our areas of interest or career, and just everywhere.             You remember how hard it was for you trying to start out?. Or maybe yours was bliss at the beginning. Yeah, it happens. You had no stress starting out. Probably, you were surrounded by the right persons, or you were just blessed. That’s a very nice one.  You're one of the very few, and I am happy for you🙌.              However, that person b...

The Limit of your Goodness.

TILL YOUR SHADOWS STOP SHOWING UP...            I too, face this issue everytime…Fredrick has been getting on my nerves lately. His own was now too much. All I badly craved now was to pour venom on him..through words, or even literally. Rebecca is nothing close to grateful, and never takes note of any good I do, and I just want to scream my  grievance into her face one day, and stop myself from doing good anywhere around her.                  And then I keep asking,"when do I stop  being good?, When is the right time to strike these persons with the fact that I also have a bad side, and I’m not made with goodness all around? Which time is the best for revenge or total back-off?.             Well then, here's the answer you may not want to hear, but need..." Till   your shadows stop showing up ".☺️       ...

About this blog.

LET'S BEGIN WITH THIS!!            Hi  dear...How have you been?Trust you've been great?         Thank you for agreeing to walk down this path with me.  It's all the reason I'm happy you're here. I mean...who doesn't like company??             That trashed, let's look the way of the blog. What is it all about? Why did I decide to write? For fun, education, information, communication, or what have you?..You can guess all day long, but let me save you the stress. My purpose of owning a blog, cuts across all those purposes I earlier mentioned, and more. Sounds like a brag,right?...Okay, let me cool you down with this...you are the main  reason why I am blogging today. Trust me if you were not there, I wouldn't dare. I'm writing just for you!💝            Let me not spill the whole bean...

WE ARE STILL HUMANS.

Just before you carry out that action..                 The moderator  rolled in the announcements, and this was among. The third meeting in three weeks, was mentioned. Where the pastors would go and discuss redundant stuff that could wait, or be finalized on phone. But as usual, the senior pastor would hear none of that. He actually holds such meetings in high esteem, and sees anyone's failure to come, as disobedience.                Having  that realization hit him once more, and remembering that he was stuck, the junior pastor cried out in my front. Yeah...he blurted out:"It's still the same things we are going there to discuss"... and I'm quite tired and hungry😥. He just wished for a way to escape but there was none. The moderator would not even take his message, not to talk of relaying it to the senior pastor.             ...

A truth in time, saves lives.

Make a mental scene of you, telling a lie about something to someone. After some time, you're now asked to reiterate or defend it before a large number of persons, and you do so, to save face. Next up, people have adopted the lie, and expect to see your life in that light. Let's just say this is the point  where you decide you're not returning back on your words. Somehow, you forge ahead. However, as much as you dreaded it, you finally get to that point where you can't keep up any more. You come face to face with your fears, and end up in a fix.  Pretty bad, innit? Most of the times, you either just sideline that life with no explanations, or you take the bold step of having to go back and tell everyone the truth. Thing is this. Why go through all of that in the first place??  One of the new year resolutions I made, is to be truthful to myself and others, come what may.  Reason?? For all that there is.  Yes...

Catering for our differences.

WE ARE ONE.                                 Back then in  secondary school, a lot of things mattered. I used to be among the "pens with tiny mouth" lovers. (And I still am😌). I never used to like writing with any pen that had a fat tip. If I got a new note, or had to write something at my convenience, I always used a pen with a tiny mouth. Lucky corer was my favourite then. When writing  exams, I wouldn't dare go in with a big "mouth biro". I had my reasons then. Since writing with fat tip pen  was never my choice, somehow, it always affected my mood, and my handwriting too. I noticed if I used any "big mouth biro", instead of concentrating while writing, I'll be busy bemoaning my  handwriting, and cursing whatever situation that made me use that pen in the first place. Because of this, while coming from home for a new term, I usually buy my biros and come with the...
